World Environment Day (WED) is the United Nations' principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. First held in 1974, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, human overpopulation, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime. The Ryanites celebrated the day and took pledge to Save the Environment in order to Save Earth. A special assembly was conducted to mark the day. Tree plantation followed by plantation song added flavour to the event.
